It is my great pleasure and privilege to serve as the 2012 Chair for the IS Associates. As the IS Associates enters its 35th year, I can proudly say that I am honored to have had the opportunity to serve as a member for 12 years of those years (and counting!). As I look back to what the IS Associates has provided for me, it's easy to see what a unique and valuable organization this is.
Together, we form a tight network of IT leaders centered in Southern California. Our organization represents a diverse variety of executives from respected technology vendors and consultants, world-class academics, and information technology leaders from many different industries. All members have rich, real-world experience. It is this network, combined with our culture of camaraderie, that has made this organization so successful and valuable to its members. At the core of its existence, the IS Associates provides a unique opportunity to form meaningful and lasting relationships with IT colleagues - relationships that I, for one, will value for a lifetime.
We have a lot of exciting agenda items this year. We will build on our connected network by adding social networking and technology collaboration to our list of tools. So you can expect to see more avenues to share experiences and ideas with your fellow members, such as LinkedIn and other social media.
We will also continue to attract compelling speakers for our IS Associates events - with a focus on the most relevant topics for IT Leaders today. In January, Ed Leamer, Director of the UCLA Anderson Economic Forecast, presented our annual Economic forecast. Our Spring Forum addressed the most current challenges in IT security. In June, we will cover the growing impact of big data. And in the fall, we will dive into further developing an understanding of what is most important to CFOs today.
If you are not a member I strongly encourage you to join and begin experiencing the many rewards of this unique community known as IS Associates. For membership information, please contact Executive Director, John Byrnes, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
